Cutler Bay, FL August 1, 2007 – The Early development of Global Education officially launched its Inaugural celebration of the first eco-friendly preschool in the state of Florida. This prestigious title was given to Old Cutler Academy Learning Center . The E.D.G.E. and Old Cutler Academy Learning Center (OCALC) also received a Proclamation by Commissioner Katie Sorenson & Mayor Paul Vrooman as the 1st Ecological friendly preschool in Florida.
Old Cutler Academy incorporated a unique environmentally focused curriculum created by the EDGE for preschoolers ages 2-5. The curriculum topics enriched and broadened their thinking, and made them conscious of issues affecting their environment. Those Topics are; Conservation, Recycling, Solar Energy, and Environment. The children engaged in activities meant to make them think about what was necessary to keep the earth healthy and encourage a role of leadership in their own families. To accomplish such goals, EDGE decided to support Old Cutler Academy Learning Center in the upcoming 2007/08 academic year with materials, programs and ground breaking environmental curriculum.
As an EDGE school, it is a priority that the children understand the concept of recycling. Therefore, the majority of materials used for the Proclamation celebration were created by students using eco-friendly materials. The children not only had a wonderful experience throughout the project, but also learned great values; such as teamwork, reinforcing the “green concept” through leading by example, and helping educate their community on how to be “green” in an effort to save our planet.
The EDGE also offers (3) membership categories to educators, corporations and individuals. These members can take advantage of a wide array of resources and benefits to help improve their work with children, corporations and individuals. This will assist to further educate and influence corporate environment on how to preserve, conserve, recycle and reuse to ensure a safer, cleaner environment.
The latest addition coming, this fall, to the Early Development of Global Education will be the EDGE Charitable Foundation which supports the teaching, programming and development of Early Development of Global Education (EDGE) schools and other children’s charities by promoting excellence in environmental education and innovative children’s services through local, regional, national and international populations.
The EDGE Charitable Foundation, through the help of community partners, will be recognized as a leader in environmental education and children’s services. We will create environmental educational facilities and programming geared toward children between the ages of two and five years. In addition to environmental education, local, national and international youth populations will receive medical assistance, charitable goods, social services and literacy programming through our funding.
